She wasn&#8217;t ready to move out of her home, and aside from adding some safety bars and other features, I wasn&#8217;t sure how to help her but we both agreed that we would BOTH feel safer if someone was checking in on her and helping her with a few things, 2 or 3 times a week.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"E53\"><span id=\"E54\">Have you realized that it is time to find a senior caregiver for one or both of your parents? It is a hard thing to face but when you realize your parents are increasingly finding it hard to look after themselves safely or worse if there has been an incident such as a parent falling, unable to get up, you know it is time. <\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E55\"><span id=\"E58\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sossitter.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Www.SOSsitter.ca<\/a> is a great resource to find a senior caregiver. Whilst you are compiling your list of people to interview, you should also compile your list of questions. To help with this process we have provided some ideas on questions you might ask below:<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"E59\"><strong><span id=\"E60\">Standard caregiver interview questions<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li id=\"E61\" class=\"qowt-stl-Paragraphedeliste qowt-li-0_0 qowt-list qowt-nospace-after\"><span id=\"E62\">What rates you <\/span><span id=\"E64\">do<\/span><span id=\"E66\"> charge? Regular and overtime \/ weekends?<\/span><\/li>\n<li id=\"E67\" class=\"qowt-stl-Paragraphedeliste qowt-li-0_0 qowt-list qowt-nospace-before qowt-nospace-after\"><span id=\"E68\">What regular and holiday time off do you expect?<\/span><\/li>\n<li id=\"E69\" class=\"qowt-stl-Paragraphedeliste qowt-li-0_0 qowt-list qowt-nospace-before qowt-nospace-after\"><span id=\"E70\">When can you start and what hours are you able to work?<\/span><\/li>\n<li id=\"E71\" class=\"qowt-stl-Paragraphedeliste qowt-li-0_0 qowt-list qowt-nospace-before qowt-nospace-after\"><span id=\"E72\">What caregiving certifications do you have such as basic first aid or CPR?<\/span><\/li>\n<li id=\"E73\" class=\"qowt-stl-Paragraphedeliste qowt-li-0_0 qowt-list qowt-nospace-before qowt-nospace-after\"><span id=\"E74\">Do you smoke? <\/span><\/li>\n<li id=\"E75\" class=\"qowt-stl-Paragraphedeliste qowt-li-0_0 qowt-list qowt-nospace-before\"><span id=\"E76\">Would you be willing to undergo a background check?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"E77\"><strong><span id=\"E78\">Questions specific to your senior loved ones\u2019 preferences and needs<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li id=\"E79\" class=\"qowt-stl-Paragraphedeliste qowt-li-0_0 qowt-list qowt-nospace-after\"><span id=\"E80\">If errands and driving to doctor\u2019s appointments are required \u2013 do you have a driver\u2019s license (and clean record)? Do you have a car?
