Little party hats and plates, each set in front of a pillow, intended for the four legged pet guests to sit on. Yes, it\u2019s a birthday party for your dearest FurKid. The cookies are all homemade, meat flavoured, and bone shaped. The water dishes are all read to be lapped at. Streamers are hung just out of reach of little jaws and paws. And party games: Will you pay a rousing game of fetch? Some of you are going to say:<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> You are crazy to have a party for your pet! <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But if you are feeling at all shy about the love you have for your pet, don\u2019t! Pets are members of the family. They\u2019re an important part of many of our lives and can be very beneficial for children, to help them learn responsibility, empathy and just to know the love of another creature. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And in case you are <\/span><b>still<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in doubt, let me remind you of just <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2014\/07\/02\/inspiring-pets_n_5283014.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">a few of the great pets in history<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Snoopy! Charlie Brown\u2019s faithful companion<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Toto, Dorothy\u2019s best friend in the Wizard of Oz<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Silver, the Lone Ranger\u2019s trusted steed (<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hi-ho Silver, away!<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fang, Hagrid\u2019s boarhound in Harry Potter<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dug, from the movie Up (\u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I have just met you and I love you! Squirrel!\u201d)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lassie, Old Yeller, Pluto, Lady and the Tramp, Astro, Scooby-Doo (and Scrappy too!) and too many famous and talented cats on the Internet to mention!<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So as you approach your pet\u2019s birthday, don\u2019t hesitate! Go ahead. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wikihow.com\/Throw-a-Dog-Party\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have a party for your pet<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">! After all, any reason for a party is a good enough reason!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are some ideas to get your pet party started:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Decide if you are going to have a family affair or something bigger by inviting friends and their pets. Or their children. Either way, it\u2019s important to consider how many people \/ pets will be attending and if you have the space to take this on! If not, considering moving your event to an off-leash park.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you choose to invite other animals, make sure that you know whether they play nicely with others and make sure that their \u2018parents\u2019 understand that this won\u2019t be a drop off party! <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Choose a place that is enclosed so the animals can run free and go for a wee and double check the space to make sure that it doesn\u2019t have any safety hazards. Your dalmatian may be fine with that little stone pool but the shih-tzu from down the street might take an accidental dip if you don\u2019t block it off!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gets lots of water bowls, treats and perhaps even some <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/irresistiblepets.net\/2014\/06\/the-ultimate-guide-to-dog-birthday-cake-recipes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2018pupcakes\u2019<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">? There are hundreds of recipes online for safe, healthy treats that you can share with your guests.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don\u2019t forget a supply of bags for scooping!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Plan for some refreshments for the owners too! It\u2019s hard work being a FurParent! <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fidosavvy.com\/dog-party-games.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Party games<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Fetch, Chase your Tail, Pin the Tail on the\u2026 oh wait, never mind. Let\u2019s skip that one.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pass out loot bags (with yummy treats and toys) at the end but make sure parents hold on to them. You want to avoid introducing any aggression among the animals.
