Experience:
Thanks to my mother working odd and long hours in the last eight or so years, my little brother's care and development became my responsibility whenever she wasn't home. He's six now, a brilliant child with a mild case of ADHD (which is cared for with prescribed medication) and an incredible love for mischief. As such I've learned to be patient and careful with how I act around the kids. I've been helping out with younger children since middle school, acting as a sort of teacher's aid for the younger grades in my spare time and babysitting for family, friends and neighbors whenever they need it. I've also raised my own son for the first year of his life until he was adopted out, due to financial issues with the family and a lack of choices otherwise. It was that, or poverty, which is why I still ask that I babysit away from my own home, as the conditions may not fit the needs or comfort levels for your little ones.
