I have experience nannying for a child with high functioning autism in the form of Aspergers. While he was very adept intelectually, his social skills and cues were greatly lacking, causing a strong need for solution based skills to be applied to often stressful outbreaks and panic attacks in public places. A wonderfully gifted child, he has taught me a great deal about patience, compassion, and honing the skills and tools needed to manage the situation. He is doing incredibly well now in a speicalized school for autistic children and children with aspergers sydnrome.
