Experience:
I lived with my grandparents in Nelson last summer for 3 months, it was a little lonely for me because I had no friends there, but I learned a lot by spending my summers with them. I cooked and cleaned, ran errands for them and most importantly, spent time with them and made sure they were getting out and doing things. My Oma became a little recluse for awhile, but I managed to persuade her to come to yoga classes with me, and I think just getting out of the house made her happier. I think its the little things that make a big difference. For instance, when I would cook for them and they would have their quiet time of reflection, I would go through their old CDs that were just collecting dust and put a few of them on. Then it would bring back memories to them, and stir up conversation, "OH i havent heard this song in so long! Remember when..." It was an amazing feeling, to feel like I had made a difference in their lives, just with little small steps.
