My name is Caroline, I am currently enrolled in a part time Special care counsellor course at Champlain college.
In the past I have worked with disabled people privately and in class settings.
Initially, I started as a private support worker, working with a young 21 year old woman.
My work consisted of implementing strategies to help her achieve daily tasks and creating activities to facilitate her social engagement.
I also accompanied my client to classes where I interacted and assisted multiple other students.
Through my support work I was then offered a position working at a food rescue center. This is where I had the opportunity to run and coordinate a team of disabled volunteers.
I am passionate about people and truly believe that each person deserves to live, thrive and grow in a supportive and inclusive setting.
