I am writing on behalf of my 98 year old parents who live in a seniors residence on Nuns Island. My father has Alzheimers but functions relatively well, while my mother is profoundly deaf and riddled with painful arthritis. She is able to walk with a walker very slowly. My mother requires help with dressing and some personal hygiene. We also require help with light meal preparation, light housekeeping and medications. They are both at risk of falling. They currently have a part-time caregiver who comes Monday-Friday in the mornings and three weekday evenings (for dinner and bedtime prep). We are looking for someone who (1) is able to provide caregiving for the weekend mornings for a couple of hours (e.g. 8-10am); and (2) who could fill in for when the regular caregiver is unavailable. Given the short shifts, we are looking for someone who lives relatively close or who has a car. It is expected that their caregiving needs will increase in the near future.
