In 2004 I completed the 2 year Developmental Service Worker program with Algonquin College. I worked extensively during this time and in the years following, with individuals with mobility impairments including cerebral palsy, arthritis and parkinson's disease. I have also worked extensively (10+ years) with persons with hearing, vision and speech impairments. Following the completion of the DSW program in 2002, I worked with children diagnosed on the Autism spectrum through Giant Steps School, the Miriam Home and OCAPDD. I have also worked with many children and adults with neurodevelopmental delays through a variety of other community organizations in the ottawa area For the last 5 years, I have worked full-time as a child welfare social worker with Batshaw Youth and Family Centres.
