Experience:
I don't have professional experience working with seniors.
However, my grandma fell ill in Mar 2010. She lived in the hospital from Mar -Aug and I was one of two main caregivers, aside from the professionals in her life, supporting her through her health scare.
During this time period she was dianogsed with severe pancreatitis and dimentia. In Aug she was moved to a personal care home.
Since moving into the care home by grandma needs a lot of emotional support and some physical support.
I volunteered my time to visit her at least once a week but usually three times a week. I water her plants, tidy her room, bring her snacks and/or assist her with meals.
I have administered meds when out with her in the community.
I support her in the community while doing errands or have taken her to movies, theatre shows.
I have experience with pushing her in her wheelchair and lifting her to use the toilet when neccessary.
