Experience:
During my student placement, I worked for 8 months in a community inclusive program for adults with Autism. The program was not exclusively for adults with Autism, we also had adults with visual disturbances as well as developmental delays. The program ranged from clients needing one on one assistance with toileting and feeding, others with behavioural needs and higher functioning clients who were more independent. I also am currently working with a 10 year old boy at the YMCA who is living with high functioning Autism and support him day to day within the before and after school program. My third year placement was within the Toronto District School board's Home School Program (HSP) at Bloorlea Middleschool. There, I worked one on one with young teens who had been diagnosed with Autism, ADHD or needed additional support due to behavioural difficulties.
