Experience:
Honestly, the only experience with seniors is with my grandparents, their friends and being in their company of talking, listening, laughing and having a good time. Going to different community events with them such as bingo's, craft time, sewing with them. And a new one for myself, being taught to knit!! Regular house duties, cooking meals with and for them, doing errands (pick up/drop off mail, groceries). It is an honor to be in the company of elder's who have lived a life with so much experiences, lessons and know they too have gifts to pass down to the future generation. This would be a perfect opportunity to gain more experience with the elders of the community.
I did complete the required courses for the Developmental Service Worker Program such as pharmacology, active living, supportive counselling, health skills, person-centered planning, adolescent and adult development.
